Amount of Lessons: 5H
1. How did you pick a song for your first dance?
We wanted to choose a song that was unique and our style. We are into electronic music, so we found a reprised version of a song we love and instantly knew it was the one!
2. What was the most important requirement for your wedding dance?
We wanted to have two parts to the dance: a slower, sweeter part and a faster, more fun part!
3. How many months in advance did you start? Did you have a dance experience before?
We started 3 months prior and have absolutely no prior experience!
4. What was the biggest challenge for you preparing the dance and how did you overcome it?
We would often go a little too fast and end up off beat. We overcame it by counting while we were practicing and eventually learning cues for key parts.
5. Did you feel comfortable on the dance floor on the day of the wedding?
Although we did not follow our exact choreography day of, we definitely felt comfortable on the dance floor.
6. Tell our future couples what to expect from the wedding dance on the day of!
Everyone will clap and cheer throughout, which was really encouraging. Even though we messed up, no one seemed to notice!
7. How did you feel after the performance on the day of?
We practiced a TON and felt like we were in great shape. However, on the wedding day, the DJ started the music while we were in another room not quite ready yet, so we had to rush out, and that threw us off.
Unfortunately that led to us rushing through parts of the dance, being offbeat, and improvising a lot of the dance!
Although we do wish we had followed the choreography, we are very proud to have been well prepared and to have the ability to improvise. Our friends and family had no idea! =)
8. What advice can you give to the couples?
You may have some wedding jitters, but as long as you focus on each other, let things go, and have fun, you will do great! Also practice a lot, so you feel as prepared as you can be. Even if things don’t go perfectly, you can wing it like us and still have a great performance!
9. Are you going to dance after the wedding?
Definitely considering it for some future date nights!
