Couple of the month: Matthew & Marisa

In this article cycle, we will post interviews with some of our wedding couples to help you better understand the preparation process as well as what to expect from the dance on the big day. You can see the dance video at the end of the article!

Dance style: Rumba
Song:  Twin Peaks
Amount of Lessons: 15 H

1. How did you pick a song for your first dance?

The song we chose is from a show we watched together and loved, called Twin Peaks. We love the ethereal vibes of the song.

2. What was the most important requirement for your wedding dance?

There  is a big creshendo in the song with lots of horns blaring, we wanted a big move to coinside with that moment!

3. How many months in advance did you start? Did you have a dance experience before?

Marisa grew up dancing in performance companies and competing, however had never done any ballroom before. Matt had no professional training, but can tear up a dance floor like no other! We began our lessons well in advance of our wedding, I believe early May.

4. What was the biggest challenge for you preparing the dance and how did you overcome it?

It took us a while to get a handle on the tempo and timing of our dance. Practicing helped a ton!

5. Did you feel comfortable on the dance floor on the day of the wedding?

Incredibly so! The cheering and love from the crowd made us feel like stars!

6. Tell our future couples what to expect from the wedding dance on the day of!

So much excitment from friends and family – nobody will be able to tell or care if you slip up! Just keep smiling and enjoying the moment. Have so much fun with it!

7. How did you feel after the performance on the day of?

Incredibly proud that we pulled it off and had so much fun doing it!

8. What advice can you give to the couples?

Practice, but know that unpredictable things may happen. Be in the moment!

9. Are you going to dance after the wedding? 🙂

Ballroom will likely take a back seat, but we’ll definitely be dancing through out our entire marraige!!
